you know it's the end of the month when...
we all go out for dinner and before the night is up, our wallets are all empty
except for ronald's
who ends up paying for everything
but rationed out
to ensure we still had money to get home
(this was weds night actually)
last night we all split up and had dinner separately. i sat happily in mr donut eating a pork puff and writing a birthday letter to mut. and then it started to rain. so i continued sitting there and ate a donut for dessert.
rain didn't last long so by the time i was done with my letter i cld go explore 长乐路 but most of the shops were closing so i spent most of my time bumming in the garden bookshop... which had loads of english books and was nicely done up.
strangely enough, on the second floor, there was an i-gallop.
???!!!
i found a really pretty hotel owned by some japanese chain. next time if i come back and i'm rich, i'll go stay there. or hey would anyone like to come visit and stay there so i can bunk in with you? :) it's called the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai. it's gorgeous and luxurious and centrally located.
it started drizzling again so i went to meet pam and jes who'd finished dinner by now and were along the same road and then we sat in starbucks to wait for sam and ron and indulged in a nonsensical conversation... but then by the time we wanted to leave it was raining agaaaain and this time it wasn't just a drizzle and it was IMPOSSIBLE to find an empty cab and every time we did see one, it'd get snatched by someone else first! we're just not aggressive enough. then i spotted a dessert cafe! and we ducked in for refuge and it had lovely hong kong dessert and was yummy :) took some stupid photos too but i can't post them today cos i substituted the camera in my bag for my umbrella since it was raining again this morning.
oh yes. this morning!
we saw The Policeman again!
he was booking some bicycle rider.
so we crossed that same little path
behind his back
although it was a red man.
HUR HUR.
