i love walking! and it's great to live in the city cos then you can walk everywhere! walking beats taking cab or bus cos you get to see things up, close and personal, things which you would miss when rushing by in an enclosed vehicle.
i think i've always walked a lot... in pri sch we would explore all over the school during recess. i loved discovering all the isolated corners. we even had an area called 'the secret garden' :P where my friends and i would hang out every recess.
in sec school we'd walk around orchard road. i took wy to emerald hill before to kill time. i think it's still one of my favourite places, tucked away in a little corner off orchard road (but i think we moved away precisely because it was off orchard road... we didn't want to pay erp every time we wanted to go home!)
in jc i was supposed to change bus to get home. but i'd often just take the first bus to either yio chu kang road or boundary road and then walk the rest of the way in... which wld take about 20-30 mins each. it was on one of these walks that i finally discovered where plmgs is located :P
in uni... rain or shine, 15 min or 1 hr break, i will walk from wherever my class is (even business!) to Mr Tea. i'll walk from school to church. from sch up to orchard, or down to marina south. or run to the east to kallang (actually that's only cos they make us during training) and of course, there was the very memorable time that dawn and i got fed up with studying and took a bus and dropped off in the middle of nowhere recognisable and ended up walking all the way back (abt an hour?) but fortunately made it back without needing to radio for a helicopter
in st. gallen, the town was so small that we walked everywhere. from house to house, house to school and back, out and about, up the mountain...
walking rocks.
ironically, despite liking to walk, i actually kinda miss our car. How are you Hurtle Turtle?! Maybe i should have bubble-wrapped him before i left. Just to be safe ;p
disclaimer: walking is only enjoyable under the right conditions. ie. no horrid shoes, no heavy bag, no urgent need to pee, no scorching sun, no stormy weather, etc.
