3-in-1 food stall

even the short walk to the office from the mrt station is quite the gastronomical adventure. every day we pick something different to eat from the many stalls along the road side. a lot of these stall owners come from elsewhere...

there's the haerbin stall with different sweet and salty pasties and thick chewy pancakes, there's muffins, you tiao and other fried dough treats, and a xinjiang pancake with egg or veg which is very much like prata.

1. haerbin pasties 2. nice friendly xinjiang (i'm guessing) ppl 3. this guy scoffed at me "有什么好拍的?" :(

but this is by far my most favourite food stall. yes, stall:

in the morning it sells this yummy pancake thing... which is like a really thin and crispy prata with egg. and what you see in the top left photo is the guy adding a crispy cracker (it's like the crackers you get in yu sheng but one huge piece!!! *ecstatic*) and then he wraps it all up and you hold out your little plastic bag (as pictured) and he pops the whole thing in fresh off the stove!
then at lunch time these aunties take over and there's a yong tau foo-ish stall! with all the ingredients neatly speared on little satay sticks [even the veg!] for you to pick. then the whole bowl is served piping hot in a plastic bag in a styrofoam bowl and takes about 45mins of intense concentration to finish as opposed to the usual 15min gobble-and-go type lunch because 20mins into the meal you're still gingerly making your way through the boiling hot bowl with the help of a teeny weeny spoon which can barely hold one strand of the nice fat chewy noodles which we invariably choose, much less any other ingredient with it.

then after work on our way home we're always tempted to stop here again because yet another guy takes over and sells 排条! chicken, pork, beef, take your pick! it's like the taiwanese chicken but much more crispy and tasty!

but these few days i've been feeling queasy from all the oil so i've been hoarding cereal and milk in the office and eating that instead. which i love quite as much. i like breakfast :)
