or maybe at least MP Wan! haha. just went for a dialogue session with 2 women MPs today and my friend and i were hosting the two MPs. after moderating the session, ailin turned to me and said "amy, i can totally see you as an MP!"
and crap... so can i! i'm such a caretaker.
my new aim: be the first female full Minister in s'pore!
but actually i think it won't happen. i think i'd prefer MP. i'm good at making sure things get done and people's needs are met. i'm not so sure if i care about the macro policies up above.
but anyway... that's far off. not planning to go into politics full-fledged anytime soon!
it was quite funny cos the session was women only, but not restricted to women-centric topics. nonetheless, the night was started off with someone saying "i can't believe i'm saying this, but i think it's getting increasingly difficult for educated women to find compatible life partners!" and then the session proceeded to sound like the two MPs were giving a marriage counselling session! with stuff like "don't be afraid to 'marry down' if the guy is courageous and mature enough to be able to handle it!" and "so would you girls want to have kids?" and so on.
but after that it got more political and socio-economical lah. the issues raised i mean. some of the other girls raised very good points too and i felt glad that we weren't being uninterested/ immature/ irrelevant/ politically and socially apathetic and unaware as most young people are. but i did feel quite bad hounding MOS lim h.h about issues in our GRC, the last elections, and the poor performance of LTA! but debz and i have been meaning to go for a Meet-the-People session and she said she'd arrange a special one for us! Hope that comes through.
i'm glad i went after all. surprisingly, i made new friends tonight!
