swiss swish

last week i was doing research on our f&b competitors and came across a Swiss restaurant in another hotel. then it occurred to me that its pretty rare to find proper swiss food around! don't think i've had any authentic swiss food since switzerland!

so since the parents were coming up, i used tt as an excuse to whisk them off for some expensive swiss fare which i wouldn't otherwise have had the time or money or tummy space to try!

and of course all i was thinking about was swiss fondue so for once i didn't take forever to decide what to eat (although i was still debating between cheese fondue and meat fondue, which is more soupy, like steamboat. but then i decided cheese fondue was more swiss!)

I LOVE CHEESE

Not everyone can appreciate swiss fondue because the cheese is mixed with herbs and brandy giving it -quite- a different taste. besides, for most ppl, just eating bread and cheese gets very jelat very fast but i just kept eating and eating....

[Chere: Welsh rarebit is like a welsh version of cheese fondue!! i knew i shld have tried it!!! now we have to go back to wales! -WAAAAAIL- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_rarebit]

Loved the ambience of the restaurant as well... done up in wood like a swiss chalet.

The nice thing about most fine dining restaurants is that they give you little treats in between, all complimentary. For example, it's quite common to get a scoop of lime sorbet in between an appetiser and a main to clear your palate. Don't recall ever getting such stuff in Singapore... not even in Morton's!

Dessert presentation here was all very fancy. At the end we had some white and milk chocolate covered balls of ice-cream on a bowl of steaming dried ice.

The pretty tirimisu that mum chose with her set dinner. She has more pictures of her food on her phone...
