f&b so far has been surprisingly theoretical and less manual.

meaning, i serve and clear plates too but that's not my main job, i just do that when it's busy or to fill time when i'm bored.

instead i spent my time in our cafe learning about COFFEE. not being a coffee-drinker, i was actually quite clueless about a lot of things. so now i know the properties of coffee... the different types of beans... the terms used to assess coffee... the composition of the various coffee drinks ie. latte, cappucino, macchiato, etc. i've also learned to operate a professional, non-automatic group coffee maker! not pro at it yet, but passable for the uninitiated.

i still maintain that i love cafes for the earthy smell of coffee (love the smell, hate the taste), the yummy milkshakes (we make ours with generous scoops of haagen-dazs ice-cream!) and the warm toasted sandwiches and of course, the desserts!!!!!

then i also did lounge duty but the only thing really worth mentioning about that was that the uniform was pretty :P

last night I also had a short stint in our in-house bar/club and had fun behind the bar before it got busy. for example i found out that they actually have a "stamping pad" to get the lime juice and salt on the rims of the margaritas! and i got to play with the coke/ water dispensing hose. and i also tried the bloody mary mix on its own cos i never wanted to order one but i always wondered what it tasted like... very salty. forgot to take a photo of my uniform tho.

on a side note, i decided that singaporeans definitely dress better than malaysians. :P

this week i'll be in our all-day dining coffeehouse... which is also where our breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet is. and i'm on crazy morning duty. good luck to me. fortunately it's this week and not last week tho, since occupancy last week was 100% for 4 days in a row! the breakfast queue was pretty long at some points. stress.
