Just moved to F&B this week! I was hoping my first task would be to try all the food!!! (i suggested that hopefully to my F&B Director and he called me a pig. so i guess it's not happening. but he is letting all of us try the new Hokkien food promotion at our Chinese restaurant. what makes Hokkien food Hokkien anyway? Hokkien mee here is different from my favourite Hokkien Mee back home!)
So anyway, my first rotation is actually with the team that's in charge of restaurant reservations... and yes their uniform is all white so they're nicknamed "Angels"... while i think the uniform looks pretty nice, it's actually surprisingly hot! and i'm still getting used to having a mic and wires all over and a ticklish ear piece stuffed in my ear all the time.
It so happened that the day I moved to F&B was also the day that FO changed to their new, striking, purple uniform... so one of my FO colleagues was like "you moved away just so you wldn't have to wear the new uniform is it??" heh maybe. but well i did feel a bit 'homesick' for FO on my first day cos altho i kept changing dept all the time at the beginning too, it's been 3 months since my last move and i was getting used to FO... but change is good and F&B feels very different! it's almost as though we're not connected to the hotel anymore cos F&B could operate independently without the hotel as well! and f&b is kinda like in the "front" of the hotel. when i stand at the entrance of the main restaurant, i face the reception counter. so it's like two separate halves...
oh well, don't think so much. just eat.
