selamat datang!

rosak. tandas. garpu. sudu. roti. nasi. awas. boleh.
that's about the extent of my bahasa now.
i suppose i ought to change my blog design, but i can't be bothered...

my first friday night here and it's wayyyy happening of course! ... i'm now out tapping coffee bean's internet and then i'm gonna go back early to pack and that has nothing at all to do with the fact that i work on saturdays of course. but monday is a public holiday again - thaipusam! and my HR director let me have the extended weekend cos "you better take leave now because when you get busier you won't be able to..." talk about ominous words... boo.

i don't understand how people can wake up early EVERY day to go to work!! i can't... and it's not because of my 5 pillows! i miss my final year with no 830 classes :( and this is when my commute to work now is just a lift ride away... dunno how i'll survive after i move out tomorrow! my colleagues are making me doubt my location choice now cos they claim i'll be working late every day and the travelling will be a drag. most of the other expats live in the condo next door (which was actually out of my budget cos i'm the lowest of the expats. yah i'm an expat! so weird.)

the strange thing is, i actually used to be an early bird when i was young. then again, i also used to eat veg when i was young. thank gdness those naive years are over.

i'm still on orientation mode so most of the time i'm just listening to someone talk and the stuff is interesting but it's just so hard to not be doing anything and i have to keep stifling my yawns. but at least today i was in the housekeeping dept and it was way more interesting. the rooms are gorgeous and we get to 'spy' on guests. haha. beware of chambermaids... they know everything!

but i always can't wait for the day to end which i feel bad about cos they expect me to be extra hardworking and outstanding and all that and all i wanna do is go back to my room. but i guess that will end when i actually have work to do.

slacking in my hotel room has also finally introduced me to cable!!! star world has everything!

you know, when Malaysia came up with the slogan "Malaysia, Truly Asia", i thought "pah... singapore's multi-racial too!" but now it seems as though malaysia really is more integrated than singapore. in KL, everyone seems to speak malay and canto regardless of whether they're malay, chinese or indian, and half the time i can't tell whether someone is malay or chinese, altho it's also possible that they're just all mixed anyway. whereas in singapore, perhaps there was so much emphasis on using english as the common medium, that races seem to learn less of each other's language? i mean of course most singaporeans know at least a smattering of each, but not quite the way malaysians seem to. i've been moving from dept to dept here and in some, the dominant language is malay and then i move to another dept and the dominant language is canto... but then the higher level of management are mainly expats so of course everyone has to speak english too. but oh well whatever it doesn't actually have any significance, just an observation in differences. but anyway, everyone's been really nice and that's all that really matters i guess!
