the quest for North America's best ice-cream

yesterday i was following a guide book's trail through the west of downtown toronto... and basically ended up walking from the southern most point (harbourfront) way up to north-west of downtown toronto and a bit into midtown i think. most of it was quite fine, with stuff to see fairly regularly along the way. but then from kensington market i headed out to find 'North America's best gelato' and it was so.far.away.
ok this was originally meant to be a bike trail and on a bike i guess it would have been awfully nice (but i forgot to photocopy the page with the bike rental info haha or actually i think i'd already decided not to follow it cos it's hard to navigate a map while cycling and hard to stop and go in to see stuff) but on foot it was terrrrrifically far. which of course i hadn't realised until i was i dunno halfway into it at least and by then it didn't make sense to stop. (stubborn la.)

and of course it did occur to me since i had plenty of time to think along the way that
1. i don't even like ice-cream that much! but i'd rather eat it now in the cold then back in sg
2. it could turn out to be super ex!
3. the place may have closed down

but hey the guidebook did say it was the best ice-cream in north america! :)
[and yes i eventually found it and it was pretty good]

essentially toronto's just a city so there isn't a whole lot to see. but i really like the houses and the people are so friendly, ppl kept offering directions on my way to my friend's house when i was still carrying my backpack and it was obvious i was a tourist, AND the cars always stop for pedestrians!

but so far the best thing i like about toronto is my friend's wonderful attic apartment, her black and white wooden staircase and my absolutely warm and comfy sofa bed :)
