and it was waaaaaaay out in the west. i think my prof thinks he needs to double as a tour guide for our foreign students.
so there i was driving along the PIE
forever and ever
and every time i went up a flyover all i saw ahead of me was sky
and sky and sky and sky.
it felt like the end of the world
i even went past caterpillar (a previous field trip dest.)
and past alvan and eliz's place
exit 24
exit 26
(i was heading for exit 28)
exit 26b
all of a sudden i saw looming ahead in front of me:
TUAS CHECKPOINT!
AHHH! i'd reached the end of the world and i didn't have my passport with me!
how how how!
i didn't wanna get arrested by customs
neither did i wanna be stuck at a customs booth blocking the way and awkwardly trying to explain how i got there while cars piled up behind me
then i suddenly realised there was a narrow, inconspicuous u-turn on my right and i had no idea where it headed to but...... i took a gamble and it paid off!
phew!
but sheesh. where were the flashing red lights and warning signs "END OF WORLD AHEAD! TURN HERE TO ESCAPE!"
i seriously panicked for a while there until i saw the turn. my nerves were on edge for the next 20mins over the narrow escape i'd had.
is that what it's like with heaven and hell? you don't realise it but all of a sudden you find you're heading straight towards a big black abyss. there's a small redeeming detour but how many see it?
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."
"But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Smoothened out my frayed edges with dinner after that with old friends - my fave person, eliz, cs, wx. Poor Eliz had a swollen foot and wasn't feeling too good so we bought dinner over to their house and had a comfortable night. All we did was dive into our KFC feast, watch tv (and chat) but it certainly felt refreshing to tv-deprived me. (how cld they not have mahjong??!!!!)
Then I came home to a rather cutting email from my prof over my grp's report. The past weeks have been depressingly busy... deadlines almost every day! and it sucks to be so pressed for time with each such that the quality gets compromised. We're struggling to even keep our heads above water and they expect us to execute perfect strokes.
Sigh. Beam me up Scotty.
this is a combination of many disjointed topics cos i'm suddenly joining all the stuff that i've been wanting to blog about in the past few days into one post. so here go the unrelated-to-main-topic-random-thoughts:
so at yesterday's family dinner (after yet another field trip to conrad, which was actually the most interesting + longest trip so far and had the best food) i realised that after so mnay years of family dinners about 3-4 times a year at various chinese restaurants, i never remember any of them! it's so strange. there must be a gap in my memory and chinese restaurants just fall through.
i also wanted to note down my eureka!moment in creating an advertising jingle for sebby but i think he'd kill me (and wld result in overdemand, and longer waiting time for the rest of us) so i'd better shaddup. facebook me if you wanna know. haha i can actually say that now cos the only ppl who don't have facebook by now have heard it already! hahaha
and if you've actually read this far, go and watch the video below again. cos it's just soooo good. sniff.
